Hanuman Garhi

Located in the sacred city of Ayodhya, Hanuman Garhi is one of the most revered temples dedicated to Lord Hanuman. Believed to date back to around the 10th century, the shrine stands atop a hill and is reached by climbing 76 steps.

Inside the sanctum, Lord Hanuman, also known as Pawanputra, is depicted seated in the lap of Mother Anjani, a unique and cherished representation for devotees. Pilgrims from across India and around the world visit the temple to seek blessings and experience its strong spiritual presence. Tuesdays and Saturdays are considered especially auspicious and attract large numbers of devotees.

According to tradition, after Lord Ram returned to Ayodhya following his victory over Ravana, Lord Hanuman chose to reside here to guard the

sacred city and protect Ramkot, the royal area of Ayodhya. Because of this association, the temple came to be known as Hanuman Garhi.

The temple complex also supports community services such as gaushala (cow shelter), annakshetra (community meals), and devotional gatherings, reflecting the spirit of service associated with Lord Hanuman.
