Saryu River Aarti

One of the most serene and spiritual experiences in Ayodhya is the evening Saryu River Aarti at Ram Ki Paidi. As the sun sets, the ghats along the sacred Saryu River come alive with glowing diyas, devotional chants, and the sound of temple bells. The reflection of hundreds of lamps on the flowing river creates a peaceful and mesmerising atmosphere that draws devotees and travellers from across the country.

Witnessing this daily ritual offers a moment of calm and devotion, where prayers, music, and light come together to celebrate the sacred presence of the Saryu River.

The Saryu River holds deep spiritual importance in Hindu tradition and is closely associated with the ancient city of Ayodhya and the life of Lord Ram.

Participating in the evening aarti is believed to bring peace, spiritual connection, and a sense of inner calm.

During the ceremony, priests perform rituals with lamps while devotional hymns and chants fill the air. Devotees often light diyas and place them in the river as offerings of prayer and gratitude. The sight of the illuminated ghats and the rhythmic chanting creates a deeply moving and memorable experience for visitors.

Best Time to Visit

Evenings during the aarti offer the most beautiful view of the ghats, especially as the lamps illuminate the river after sunset. Festivals such as Diwali and Ram Navami make the experience even more vibrant when thousands of lamps light up the entire riverfront.
